Air to water heat pumps
Samsung EHS Gen 7 — R32 and R290
The Gen 7 Mono range is Samsung's core heating platform — an outdoor unit that heats your home via radiators or underfloor, and your hot water via a cylinder. It comes in two refrigerants, R32 and R290, and the choice between them is a genuine one worth understanding rather than a default.

R290 is a mildly flammable (A3) refrigerant, so it needs an installer with specific R290 competency alongside the standard F-Gas qualification — which is why it's not yet universal, rather than being the newer-is-worse story it can sound like.

What the newer refrigerant actually gets you
Up to 75°C — enough for most existing radiator systems without upsizing them, which is often the single biggest cost variable in a retrofit.
100% heating capacity maintained down to –10°C outdoor temperature, so performance doesn't taper off exactly when you need it most.
As low as 35dB(A) in Quiet Mode, measured 3m from the unit — quiet enough to sit outside a bedroom window.

Cooling, on the same Samsung platform
Two decisions, independent of each other: how many rooms one outdoor unit needs to serve, and what the indoor unit looks like in the room.
One outdoor unit, one indoor unit — the simplest option, for cooling a single room properly rather than a whole house partially.
One outdoor unit serving up to five indoor units, each controlled independently — the usual choice once more than one room needs cooling.
The standard indoor unit — mounted high on a wall, the most compact and least intrusive option for most rooms.
Fan coil units that discharge air from a single side rather than a wall-mounted unit's face — suited to rooms where a wall unit isn't the right fit, ceiling voids and floor consoles included.
